President's News Sources
Sometimes presidents use the same news sources as we do. In the picture US-President Barack Obama watches the speech of Hosni Mubarak covered by CNN and FOX (Jan. 28, 2011).
More interesting to me is the February 2011 issue of the National Geographic Magazine and The New Yorker in front of the monitor. Two great and high quality magazines. Another one I can recommend is The Economist - maybe it's in the Presidents pile of magazines, too.

Great man's rooms!
Have you ever thought about how Hemingway's, Churchill's, Roosevelt's, Thoreau's ... "caves" looked like - where they worked and thought? Here is the answer: The "Art of Manliness" blog shows such famous "caves" in pictures and words.
Henry Thoreau's "cave" via artofmanliness.com
Question: Are there any pictures of great women rooms (of places where e.g. Virginia Woolf, Gloria Vanderbilt, Anita Roddick ... worked and thought) - and I don't mean any kitchen, harem or feminist's war-room pictures (don't be so plump)!!!
In contrast to Thoreau's room, here is another great example of an inspiring thinking environment - it's not a "men's cave" in special but the library at the Biltmore estate in Asheville, North Carolina.

Nikkor 18-200 mm VR II DX Zoom Creep Fix!
The Nikkor AF-S 18-200 mm VR II DX lens is really an allrounder and travel lens. It served me very well in the last year and I take around 10.000 pictures in China, Iran and Austria. Only the zoom creep is a pity. It is ok when I take pictures but it bothers me when I carry the camera around my neck or my shoulders. According to Nikon it's by design and not a faulty construction. So zoom creeping in vertical positions is a normal behavior of the lens due to gravity. But now I found on dpreview.com an inexpensive and simple solution for a zoom lock. It's an "O-Ring" and works very well. But see yourself the original source of this tip and follow the link for some pictures of the solution.
I have a very simple solution to the zoom creep that users of this lens seem to complain about.
I simply went to a hardware store with the lense and selected a neoprene 'O'-ring that fit the lenns ring as shown in the attached photo.
The ring simply provides a little friction at the joint of the lens body and the zoom ring. It is small enough that it does not get inthe way of shooting, and yet does the job so perfectly. The cost was only $1.00, so I purchase 3 and handed them out to friends who also use this lens. They all ended up quite happy at this simple solution.
Cheers
