The Do-Not-Carry-Rule!
In "Travelling light in a times of digital thiervery" Nicole Perlroth, a NY-Times journalist, details the rules of the trade during business trips overseas. She points out clearly how to use digital devices and how to protect your trade secrets when you are especially in China.
Everybody knows that if you are doing business in China, in the 21st century, you don’t bring anything with you. That’s ‘Business 101’ — at least it should be.
But there are three more rules!
Two memorable dates!
Thirteen years ago Hong Kong returned to China - at midnight on July 1, 1997. Hong Kong is now a special administrative region, retaining its laws and a high degree of autonomy for at least fifty years after the transfer.
And the second memorable date is the 89th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) - founded in Shanghai on July 1, 1921 by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao.
The Party suffered heavy losses at the hands of the Guomindang in 1926-1927 and a new party was built by Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. The new CCP consolidated during the Long March (1934-1937). After the defeat of the Japanese they was able to drive out the Guomintang. In 1949 they declared the People's Republic of China.

Is China Getting Too Expensive for Foreigners?
… and then you have the costs of education. Want to send your kid to kindergarten in China? Be prepared to pay 15,000USD and up for a school that offers the Western equivalent, or make the choice and go local. Another compelling reason for many new families to begin planning their exit.
After watching a report about Shanghai in Austrian Television it reminds me of an article I read today. Fact is that the costs of living are rising and compensation packages for expats are decreasing. A problem if they want a western lifestyle not a problem if they live like the Chinese.
